That’s what the consortium Groupement Marti Implenia is doing at Nant de Drance, in the Swiss Alps. They needed these Astra HD8 480hp 8×6 trucks to build a pumped-storage hydroelectric power plant at the summit. The only problem is that the only way to reach the peak is by helicopter or using a heavy duty cable crane. They opted for the latter.
The pumped-storage plant will generate 600 megawatts of electricity. It will be built inside the mountain at 1700m above sea level. Workers will be able to reach the plant through a 5.6km tunnel. Hopefully, the company will also build hot jacuzzis on the top for them.
