Virtual windows are nothing new, but the design team at CHC believes that they can make it both affordable and accessible by taking advantage of some of the iPad 2’s new features.
While still in the concept stage, the design team at CHC believe that they can use the new iPad’s front facing camera, A5 processor and a dedicated app to track faces of people walking past, which can then be used to move the image in the iPad to create the illusion of a moving background.
And by taking that to the next level, it could become a videoconferencing powerhouse by allowing two virtual window users to converse with each other from across the world as though they were simply looking through a window.
It’s a pretty cool concept, even if it probably won’t get much past the concept stage.
