More to-ing and fro-ing on the subject of an upcoming iPhone having NFC: the New York Times spoke to two people who claim to have knowledge that it’ll support NFC via a new Qualcomm chip.
Unfortunately, they couldn’t confirm if it’ll be the iPhone 5 or the next one – though one of them did say that the payments would be made through iTunes, which we’d heard previously would be a feature added to 2012’s iPhone.
Likewise, it’s only fair that the manufacturers making Windows Phone 7 handsets should be exploring NFC – could it be Nokia, who’d stated they planned to add NFC to all of its phones in 2011? [NY Times]
