Junkyard Jumbotron App: Networked Mobile Displays On The Cheap

Junkyard Jumbotron from chris csik on Vimeo.

MIT ingenuity is at again with the Junkyard Jumbotron. Using scannable QR codes and whatever mobile phones or tablets you might have on hand, it creates impressive multi-monitor displays on the cheap. Clever!

What do you need? It’s pretty simple: The app, some devices (any OS, any size), and a camera to snap a pic of all the devices displaying the QR codes. Voila. Instant “Jumbotron” on the top of your desk.

The impressive little hack is the work of MIT’s centre for Future Civic Media. Kudos to them on the interesting use of QR codes and leftover mobile phones! [MIT via Boing Boing]
