Guy Arrested For Using An App To Pretend To Be The Police

Your smartphone? It can do a lot of different things with apps. Like stream March Madness games, or stream music, or even flash blue and red lights that mimic police lights! Alexander Welch, a 20-year-old Boise kid, used that snazzy police lights app in a prank to get a car to pull over. Once the car pulled over, Welch drove away. Solid prank pretending to be the police! Well, not so much.

The driver of the other car notified the police about Welch and the police tracked him down, found said app that flashed police lights, and promptly arrested him. According to the Idaho Statesman, the felony crime of unlawful exercise of the function of peace officers is punishable by up to five years in prison. [Idaho Statesman]
