Grand New Opry

The Guangzhou Opera House. Just completed after seven years of construction, comprising two separate buildings and overlooking Guangdong Province’s Pearl River. And its main auditorium, which seats 1800 and looks like something not even the holodeck could dream up, is as acoustically advanced as it is beautiful.

Designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, the 70,000sqm complex hosts a multifunction hall in addition to the the grand theatre, along with a lobby that looks like the love child of the ISS and Epcot Center. Even if you’re bored to tears by arias, there’s plenty of architectural eye candy to keep you glued to your seat. [Design Boom]
