Darth Vader’s Place In The Suburbs

I wonder how the neighbours of this house in Sendai, Japan, feel – their buildings, from the look of things, seem like normal, unassuming homes. And then someone had to come and build this brooding black monstrosity.

The living areas of this residential behemoth are all on the first floor, but a slotted, sloping terrace gives the owner a view of the street while keeping outsiders from peering in. Spooky. That terrace juts out dramatically from the main part of the residence, ensuring that the small lot still has room to park two cars. Or one Tie-Fighter. [Dezeen]
