An Eco-Friendly Redesign For The Syringe

If you’ve ever had a blood test, you might recall how the used syringe gets its own personal waste-sheath, then thrown in a larger bin. A Cambridge Consultants designer has given the syringe a green makeover, so it becomes its own packaging.

If designer Serge Roux manages to bring the Syreen to life, it would be shipped in a plastic unit which would cut down on packaging volume by 50 per cent, compared to the syringes and their casing commonly used now. I guess one of the biggest problems would be producing it cheaply enough for the medical industry to sit up and take notice – but anything that lightens the load on our landfills is alright by my books.
