That massive data centre Apple's spent the last few years building in North Carolina? As suspected, it's there to support iTunes, the company confirmed today. That's a whole lot of storage to be used for anything other than a cloud-based iTunes.
The space will also be used to handle MobileMe - another cloud initiative that could well become free soon - and Apple's corporate systems. The billion-dollar facility is supposed to open "any day now", which doesn't mean much in terms of when you'll be able to stream your iTunes library. But Apple will at least be equipped to pull the trigger. [AppleInsider]
