You Can Uninstall The Mac App Store, But It’s Not Supported

While the new Mac App Store has some benefits, some of you may dislike it enough that you want to uninstall it completely. It isn’t supported by Apple, but tech blog OSNews reports that it is possible: just remove it with something like previously mentioned AppCleaner.

This will ge rid of the App Store and its associated files, and the App Store menu entry will even revert back to its old “Mac OS X Software page” entry. The option to search the app store for unknown extensions still exists, though it does nothing. This method isn’t supported by Apple, nor is it really necessary for most folks — after all, it doesn’t do much to take over your system — but for those that like to keep their /Applications folder super clean, it’s nice to know this is a valid option.
