PS3 Hacked By Geohot; Who Knows What Craziness Will Happen Now

Earlier this year, famed iPhone hacker Geohot ripped open the PS3 and gave it OtherOS abilities. Now, he’s gone further, and published the PS3’s root key online, for anyone to use.

Only last week did fail0verflow, a German group of hackers, show they’d hacked the PS3 to run pirated apps and games, plus Linux (a stab at Sony, who’d removed the Install Other OS ability back in April). Geohot’s root key is available on his website for messin’ about with, but we shouldn’t have to tell you to be very careful if you do. [Geohot via Kotaku and PSX-SceneThanks, Affan!]
