Make A Foot Switch For Your DSLR Camera In 5 Minutes

Triggering your cameras shutter can cause unwanted shake, and sometimes you need your hand free for other reasons. Here’s a look at how to create a foot switch on the cheap in only five minutes.

What You’ll Need:

  • 3/32″ Mono Plug (part # 274-0289)
  • Sustain Foot Pedal (part # 42-4053)
  • 20′ Stereo 1/4″ female to 1/8″ male Cable (part # 42-2561)

Instructables user randofo needed a foot switch for his camera to take hands-free photos and found all the necessary parts to build one at his local electronics store. Basically, you can create a foot switch for your camera’s shutter by using an sustain pedal made for electronic pianos, a plug and an adaptor. A little soldering is needed to get everything working properly, but the whole operation can be completed in five minutes. For the full instructions, be sure to check out the Instructables post.
