This photo was taken in Brooklyn 50 years ago (to the day), when two airliners crashed above the New York borough. Bodies, debris and wreckage remained. In honour, Life released a full gallery of shots from the scene.
Known as the "Park Slope Plane Crash", the damage was devastating. A total of 134 people died, including six on the ground and all 126 passengers in the sky. Ten buildings were destroyed, the result of a seven alarm fire. Interestingly enough, this was one of the first plane crashes where the aircraft were equipped with flight data recorders, aka black boxes. Be sure to check out the entire gallery over at [Life]
