R18+ Games Rating Looking Doubtful

Mark from Kotaku has been a tense combination of anxiety and excitement today with the Standing Committee of Attorneys General meeting to discuss an R18+ rating for video games today. But it looks like getting the AGs to unanimously agree to common sense may be a little bit beyond their abilities.

According to a tweet from Laura Parker at Gamespot AU, the West Australian AG’s media advisor has stated that the WA Attorney General Christian Porter won’t make a decision on the classification until he has consulted with his cabinet.

While it’s hard to believe that the man could possibly go to a meeting without actually being aware of the arguments involved in the issue, this doesn’t sound promising for the army of parents and gamers in favour of the updated classification. It also doesn’t mean that we won’t see a unanimous vote. Stay tuned for more info as it happens, and head over to Kotaku to keep up to date with all the issues in their superb READY series.
