Christmas is rapidly approaching and we're already halfway through Hanukkah. If you want to get a unique holiday music mix together, here's how to do it for free with YouTube.
Along with the video quality, the audio quality on YouTube has increased pretty dramatically. While you're not going to get the quality you'll find with music you rip from a CD or even purchase in most online music stores, the quality is definitely enough for making a casual mix of holiday tunes for your Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanza/whatever party.
What you'll need:
First things first, gather a bunch of YouTube videos with the music you want. Here are a few to get you started:
- Santa Claus on a Helicopter (as seen above)
- I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas
- Merry Hanukkah
- All I Want for Christmas is...Jews
- Adam Sandler's Hanukkah Song
- Dominick the Italian Christmas Donkey
- I'm Gettin' Nuttin' for Christmas
- Mr Hanky the Christmas Poo
Once you've got URLs to your music videos, head on over to YouTube to MP3 Converter and start entering the URLs. The video will process on their servers and, in a few minutes, you'll have an MP3 version of the video you provided. Download it and repeat the process for as many MP3s as you need to create.
Finally, burn those MP3s to a CD, copy them to your MP3 player or smartphone, or make an online mix tape with Mixtape.me. Now you've got a nice DIY holiday music mix.
While this is an easy way to make a free mix, we wholeheartedly encourage you to support the artists by buying their music. If you really like any of the songs you put on your mix, get in the giving spirit this holiday and pay for the music you love.
