Google Wants To Help Stop Poisonings And Suicide

title=10 years ago, if somebody accidentally swallowed poison you’d probably run to that oversized paperweight known as the Yellow Pages to find out who to call. These days, you’d just Google it, which is why Google have added a special search result with a big red phone and thenumber for the poisons hotline if you happen to search for the term “poisoning”.

Similarly, people googling suicide will be given a big red phone and the number for Lifeline.

It’s not perfect – a search for “poison” comes back with a heap of results from the 80s hair band (I guess every rose has its thorn, and all that), but it’s still a good initiative to try and make important information much more accessible during emergency situations.
