The last time I saw a Yamaha Blu-ray player, it was almost a generation behind everything else on the market, making it a very hard sell. The company doesn't have the same problem with their latest player though, with their upcoming A1000 player offering 3D playback, HDMI 1.4 and support for YouTube XL.
If you're hoping for a player that competes on price, you should probably look elsewhere - the Yamaha is definitely targeted towards the premium end of the market. It plays back both SACD and DVD-Audio, in case you needed proof. Other than that, it's a pretty standard Blu-ray player. Pricing is still to be confirmed, but it should come in somewhere between $600 and $800.
