It may be a huge marketing gimmick, but Sharp’s Quattron LCD TVs, which reproduce a “wider colour gamut” by adding a yellow pixel colour to RGB have been detailed for an Australian release.
Sharp are launching three different screen sizes into the Australian market: 40-inch, 46-inch and 52-inch. They will retail for $2,299, $2,899 and $3,999 respectively.
Along with edge lit LED backlighting, 100Hz playback and 4 HDMI ports, the Sharp seems like it a pretty good display, despite lacking current-gen features like 3D and IPTV functionality. But after reading that display myth post from back in May, it’s kind of hard to get too excited about this…
