All Roku players will offer Hulu Plus content, meaning that you can get the service streaming to your TV – in addition to Netflix, Amazon VOD, Pandora, MLB, UFC, etc – for a $US60 entry point. Sure, you could rent dollar episodes through Apple TV, but a $US10 per month Hulu Plus subscription has also got to look might appealing to anyone looking to cut cable out of their lives.
As for TiVo, you’ll still be paying a TiVo subscription on top of the monthly Hulu Plus bill, and it looks as though older TiVo models aren’t included in the deal.
Hulu Plus will be available before the end of the year on Roku and “in the coming months” on TiVo Premiere, which sounds to me like pretty much the same thing: soon.
