De-Grease Your Laptop With A Magic Eraser

If you're tired of shiny, greasy spots all over your laptop, you can safely cut through the grease with a magic eraser. Here's how it works.

Earlier this week we asked you for tips on cleaning off hand oil from your laptop's trackpad and keyboard. There were a lot of great suggestions, but one of the more popular options was using a magic eraser. We decided to give this a shot.

My trackpad wasn't super oily, but I've still never been able to get the grease off it. After just a few seconds of wiping with the magic eraser, the trackpad was completely grease-free. Thank you readers! The video above demonstrates the magic eraser process wipe for wipe, but overall it's pretty simple:

  1. Wet the magic eraser with lots of water.
  2. Squeeze out the excess water.
  3. Wipe your laptop's trackpad and keyboard a few times.
  4. Dry off your laptop's trackpad and keyboard.

What's especially awesome is that you can reuse it. It's not until the magic eraser looks like a mangled clump that you have to throw it out. According to the box, it'll keep working until it looks like your cat coughed it up.
