HP and Dell continue to dominate the landscape with 25.7 per cent and 24 per cent market shares, respectively, while Acer, Apple and Toshiba round off the top five.
Apple claimed an 8.8 per cent share this quarter, just above Toshiba’s 8.5 per cent, while Acer dropped from 12.3 per cent to 11 per cent this season, narrowing the gap between third and fourth place. It looks like the iPad (which, as a tablet, was not included in these results) might be squeezing in on Acer’s would be netbook buyers. Better get that tablet out soon and get in on the action, Acer.
Overall, US computer shipments were up a not-very-exciting (and not very surprising) 12.4 per cent, while worldwide computer shipments rose 22.4 per cent. [Electronista]
