HP Won't Make Any Windows Phone 7 Devices

HP won't be double dipping when it comes to webOS and Windows Phone 7 - they're only going to make webOS phones. And that shouldn't be surprising given that Palm and webOS is their $US1.2 billion baby, when you spend that kind of money, yeah, you're going to use them.

In an interview with CNBC HP Personal Systems Group VP Todd Bradley had this to say about HP's standing with Microsoft (and Android) in smartphones:

We continue to be Microsoft's largest customer, and we continue to believe we will drive innovation with Microsoft. At the same time, I think it's clear to say, that we're very focused on the customer, and giving the customer the experience that's important to them. We won't do — will not do a Linux / Android phone. We won't do a Microsoft phone...Our intent is to focus those resources and really make webOS the best OS it can be.

The truth is, as fresh as Windows Phone 7 is, it's coming really late in the game. Companies, like HP, may have other plans. [CNBC via Engadget]
