Lightning does strange things to the land, the people it strikes and even the gadgets those people are holding. Building a device that converts energy from lightning to heat the person below is probably too far a step, though.
It's all part of Andrew Friend's wacky mind, whose artwork is on show at the Royal College of Art Design in London and explores the idea of experiencing various emotions - disappearance, danger, energy. As well as creating the lightning strike device, he also conjured up the Device For Disappearing At Sea, which is an open-topped container big enough to fit one person in, so they can float out to sea and experience absolute isolation.
