The Gulf Oil Spill Is Bigger Than Connecticut

We've seen aerial shots of the oil spill before, but the damage is so broad it's nearly impossible to get perspective. Well, now you can map it over any city - or state - in the world using Google Earth.

Paul Rademacher has shown the extent of the spill - all 6475sqkm of ocean floor - using the Google Earth API, and lets you place it over the city of your choice. So how big is it? Bigger than Connecticut. Bigger than the island of Hawaii. Bigger than you can wrap your brain around or capture through a camera lens. And it's only getting bigger.
