Apple’s iBooks Store Launching On iPad May 28

It was a small throw away line in the press release for the Aussie iPad launch last week, so it’s no surprise it was almost universally missed. Well, except for Adam Turner at the SMH. Apple has confirmed that the iBooks app for the iPad will be available in Australia as a free download from May 28, when the device goes on sale.

The iBooks™ app for iPad including Apple’s iBookstore will be available as a free download from the App Store on 28 May.

There’s obviously no word on whether we’ll have access to the same catalogue of books, but it looks like Apple managed to find someone to fill the iBooks manager role we saw a couple of months ago.
