Sex Offenders Search Application Wrongly Listed Offenders In Australia

There’s a great article on Crikey by James West about the Sex Offenders Search Application for the iPhone, which wrongly indicated that registered American sex offenders were living in Sydney streets. That’s a pretty big “wrong”.

According to the Crikey article, the app has been fixed now for Australia, although it looks like there are mistakes around the world still standing. There were about 200 individuals wrongly located in the southern hemisphere.

The app itself has a history of controversy, being first approved, then yanked, then reapproved on the US iTunes Store. Why it was ever available in Australia is a question Apple themselves probably can’t answer…

Make sure you check out the full article over at Crikey.
