The largest passenger plane in the world almost had a fatal accident yesterday: Two wheels of the left landing gear exploded during touchdown at Sydney's airport. A passenger filmed the terrifying action from the aeroplane camera and the window.
Fortunately, the plane behaved as expected. As you could imagine, there are more than two wheels per landing gear in a huge beast like the A380. In fact, there are four per wing landing gear and eight for the two central ones:
According to Qantas, the owner of the A380, "it wasn't an emergency landing." All passengers were fine.
