Does The World Really Need A Fixed ADSL/HSPA Router?

 title=
At first glance, I thought the idea of a joint ADSL/HSPA router would be great – one device to work both at home and on the road, right? Wrong.

This Netcomm 3G12W router offers both services in one body, but it’s not exactly portable – the HSPA connection is more for use in emergencies rather than a dual solution product. You know, for when your ADSL craps out. But how often does that happen?

On the upside, it’s quad-band HSPA (850/900/1800/1900MHz) and rated to 21Mbps, so it’ll work with any network and is pretty much future proof.

I don’t know, maybe I’m completely wrong here, but this just doesn’t seem to be the multi-function device I thought it could be. It’s going to be launched at Mobile World Congress, but there’s no price or date just yet.
