Remember those cyber attacks on a bunch of companies which resulted in Google refusing to continue censoring searches in China? According to antivirus maker McAfee, Internet Explorer security flaws are the key culprit for what they're now calling "Operation Aurora".
Such a beautiful name for such an ugly mess. McAfee is speculating about the precise ways the attacks were pulled off, but they're certain that the IE security flaws played a major role along with some "sophisticated social engineering scenarios". Guess it's time for some better-late-than-never patching and spot-the-scam re-training. [McAfee]
