Asus Offering Wireless HDMI Kit For $699

title=Wireless HDMI is always going to be a bit of a niche product – unless it’s built into a new TV, most people are just going to run cables – that doesn’t mean it’s not awesome. And now Asus is offering everyone the chance to stream their HD content across the room with a wireless HDMI kit worth $699.

Using the 5GHz band of 802.11n, the BR-HD3 lets you stream 1080i content with a range of up to 30 metres. Apparently this is possible thanks to the 240Mbps throughput, while an incorporated IR relay system means you can control all your components even if they’re in another room.

It’d be interesting to see how well the device works through walls if you’re planning on keeping your components in another room, and the fact that it’s only 1080i may be a dealbreaker for some. But on the upside, it does look kind of cool, even if it may be a slightly awkward shape.
