Optus To Stream Australian Open To 3G Handsets For Free

optus tennisJust like their recent announcement about next year’s Soccer World Cup, Optus has announced that their customers will be able to stream live broadcasts of the Australian Open Tennis tournament next month for free.

They’re only streaming the same content that’s being broadcast on channel 7, so it’s not a way of watching your favourite star who isn’t on TV. But if you enjoy your 3D version of Pong, and you’re an Optus customer, then this isn’t a bad little value add to your service. So long as the network is up to it, of course.

Optus to live stream Channel Seven’s match coverage of the Australian Open 2010 to 3G mobile customers for free

Optus confirmed today that its mobile customers will have their eye on the ball this summer of tennis as they watch live streaming of Channel Seven’s match coverage of the Australian Open 2010 on their 3G mobile including the Apple iPhone*.

“Optus customers have exclusive access to Channel Seven’s Australian Open 2010 match coverage on their 3G mobile, when they are out and about, they can view all the great serves of the day,” Mark Mulder, Optus General Manager Content and Portals said.

“With our recent announcement to live stream the 2010 FIFA World CupTM matches to customers 3G mobiles and now with the free live streaming of Channel Seven’s match coverage of the Australian Open 2010, Optus is at the forefront of offering its customers the latest in mobile content.

“Additionally, when Optus customers enjoy the live streaming, they go into the draw to win a trip to the French Open Finals, a once in a lifetime experience,” Mr Mulder said^.

• Results – day by day results for all the major matches;
• Interactive poll – showing results of what Optus customers think on various tennis topics;
• Downloads — access tennis mobile games and wallpapers.
