The Prism Laser Synth-Guitar is a DIY project at Giz Gallery that mixes a guitar with a laser-controlled synth and a pitch bender. We decided to try and find the most annoying sound we could produce with the thing.
The Prism was constructed by hollowing out an electric guitar, then dropping in a signal processor on a circuit board that controls the show. 4 lasers act as the strings, and they produce noise when you break their plane. The neck of the guitar has been refashioned into a pitch bender which uses an IR rangefinder at the bottom of the neck.
We let our intern Chris Jacob go apeshit on this thing for a couple of minutes and see just how annoying it could get. It was all fun and games until Joanna tore out his spleen with her bare hands in a fit of rage.
