The 10MP DSC-TX1 and DSC-WX1 pack in the same low-light optimised Exmor R CMOS sensor and unique Sweep Panorama mode as Sony’s $US500 DSC-XH1 mega zoom.
The $US350 WX1 also includes the HX1’s swanky Sony G Lens, to date only otherwise seen in digital SLRs and high-end camcorders. The camera has a 5x optical zoom, 2.7-inch LCD, and goes on sale in October. Meanwhile, the $US380 TX1 has a slimmer design, 4x optical zoom and 3-inch touchscreen LCD. It’ll be available in a range of colours this September.
Both cameras also record video at 720p HD (MPEG-4 @ 30fps) and include a new Twilight mode that automatically combines shots at various exposures to produce more dynamic low-light photos. [PC World and CNet]
