Ha! I remember when Dell made its millions by foregoing retail. Now, combined with their Officeworks deal and their Good Guys deal, you can pick up one of their PCs from Dick Smith’s 70 largest retail stores around the country as well. I wonder if the Techxperts will need extra training?
DELL EXPANDS ITS RETAIL PROGRAM IN AUSTRALIA
Dick Smith named as Dell retail partner
SYDNEY, Australia, May 1, 2009 – Dell today announced a retail partnership with Dick Smith that expands its retail presence in Australia.
Dick Smith has more than 400 stores across Australia and New Zealand. From 6 May, shoppers in its 70 largest locations nationwide will be able to choose from a range of Dell products including different configurations of Dell’s Inspiron 15 and Studio 15 laptops and one configuration of its Studio One 19 all-in-one desktop computer.
Dell’s Australian retail program began in May 2008 when it agreed to sell a range of products in Officeworks’ stores across Australia. In December last year, Dell’s retail presence expanded further when The Good Guys agreed to sell its products.
Evan Williams, general manager, Consumer Sales and Marketing, Dell Australia, said, “Over the past 12 months, we have made many enhancements to our local consumer business. These include investing in our online capability so customers can personalise their laptops with their favourite colours and designs, building strong partnerships in retail and launching an award-winning range of products in Australia. Over the next several months in Australia, we will add more personalisation options, launch more products and expand our retail presence through our new partnership with Dick Smith.”

Dell Australia will continue to operate its kiosks located in shopping malls in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria, and Western Australia.
