Video: If the title The Devil’s Candy kind of rings a bell, that’s because the horror film starring Ethan Embry and Shiri Appleby debuted at the Toronto Film Festival in 2015. Now, after over a year of waiting, the first trailer is here.
And trust us, this is one you are going to want to see. Here’s the trailer courtesy of Entertainment Weekly.
While that trailer shows a lot it’s actually pretty good at hiding what the film is actually about. The story is that Embry and Appleby play a couple who decide to buy a new house. They get a great deal because, well, a few people were killed there, but who cares, right? Wrong.
The house is evil and Embry starts to hear voices which push him to do terrible things. As I stated in my write-up from last September:
Embry’s character is a metal-obsessed artist and his daughter, played by Kiara Glasco, is too. Their musical taste adds a percussive energy to the film, which fits in nicely with the demonic voices that live in the house. As the house’s history and present begin to come together, [director Sean] Byrne keeps things moving at a brisk pace, leading up to a finale that includes what’s sure to be one of the best shots of the whole year. The Devil’s Candy is a simple, scary, gross, bad-arse metal Satan movie.
The Devil’s Candy does not yet have an Australian release date.
