Fujitsu is the latest PC manufacturer to announce they’ll be offering upgrades to Windows 7 for all their new machines pre-installed with Vista. It’s not quite free though…
The good news: Two models of Asus Eee, the 1101HA and 1005HA, are eligible for free upgrades to Windows 7. The bad news: Your 1101HA needs to be preloaded with Vista Home Premium and your 1005HA needs to be preloaded with Windows XP Pro or Vista Business.
We already heard about this on the Best Buy front, but it looks like several computer makers will let you upgrade to Windows 7 for free—or at least cheaply—if you buy a Vista computer after June 26. [InfoWorld]
It’s easier than ever to pit Windows 7 and OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard head-to-head: They’re launching soon, both within a month of each other—and both are basically glorified service packs of the current OS.
It looks like Windows Vista SP2 will be squeezed out not too long before Windows 7 itself hits. TechARP, who originally reported to expect it in April, says its release date has slipped to May.
