The setup presumably connects to a house’s gutter system, storing rainfall it for the next uh, not-rainy day. It’s gorgeous but I think it should be made out of metal, not fiberglass, if he is going for maximum green points. You can probably cut a line in your own rain gutters and hack together a collector on your own, though. I award the idea, not the actual hardware, a thumbs up.
Long story short, the display turned on just fine and displayed a—wait for it—fish image.

While a bit quirky, the achievement is noteworthy simply because OLED displays, like some cats, despise water. But this one didn’t!

So now flexible OLED displays work under water, or at the very least in tiny cups surrounding by Playmobil people. [Plugged In via OLED Display]

Designed by NTT, these “floating UFOs” can filter about 9000 litres of water in the six hours a day they’ll be operational, all the while spewing the newly cleaned and oxygenated water out of a little spout in its back, presumably because these things have the potential to be kind of unsettling, and everything with a blowhole is automatically charming.
At night, they’ll just sort of float along, creepily—they’ve got batteries for when the sun hides out, but only to power the device’s LED lights.
The concept calls for a fountain that can pivot up to four inches—making it less necessary to bend over when taking a drink. Water can be dispensed in both room and cold temperatures directly or into a bottle dispenser. I have to admit, the bottle dispenser is sorely needed these days, especially if the fountain happens to be located inside a gym.
Knock them overboard and they’re easily seen and retrieved. Pretty straightforward. The handles help the tools float because they’re made of comforting foam. Bonus: The rust-resistant metal is tungsten-carbide, perfect for fighting off the corrosive effects of that salty sea air. Yar.
