Measuring 6.9cm long and about an inch in diameter, you pull the pill apart to unlock the controls, then twist forward and back to toggle tracks. We’re a little confused how volume and 30 channels of FM radio fit into that control scheme, but we won’t get too worked up on the technicalities. I mean, it’s an MP3 player that looks like a pill. What else do you really need?

Despite the conceptual renderings and unique design, the Vitamin is actually entering production later this year—meaning that you’ll be able to buy it from an unknown vendor for an unknown price some time in 2009. It’s not quite as crazy as eyedrops, which incapacitated Matt for a good ten minutes. There’s only one other nation, Korea, that could combine the dubious gaming benefit of vitamins with the seriousness of professional gaming. And since these are for Japanese gamers, who don’t really play twitch shooters all that much, we can only guess that they use it for one reason only: to keep the convoluted storylines of Final Fantasy XII and Metal Gear Solid straight.
