Virgin’s In-Flight Tablet Testing Goes High-Gear In May

We learned back in February that Virgin Australia would be trialling the Samsung Galaxy Tab as an in-flight entertainment option, and that only business class passengers would be in the first round of testing. But it turns out the trial is even more restricted than that: it’s only running for a single week. Fortunately, there’s better news ahead.

Jetstar has had iPads since last year. Qantas is trialling iPads on one plane. Virgin Australia is also getting into the tablets-for-in-flight-entertainment game, but rather than going Apple, it will be using the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Virgin Australia Testing Wi-Fi…But Not For Internet Access?

Though Qantas has toyed with in-flight Wi-Fi in the past, both it and top domestic competitor, Virgin, have been coy on future plans…until now. Qantas has told Australian Business Traveller that it’s on the cards, and the same site reports that Virgin is “evaluating a number of entertainment options, including Wi-Fi.”
