Heather Storey’s small car was hit by a tow truck. She would’ve survived the accident if her laptop had not been lying in the backseat, according to investigators. When she was hit by the truck, the laptop flew forward and crashed into the back of her head and neck, ultimately killing her.

I always put my laptop in a bag on the floor, but mostly because I want the seat space to store other crap, which could just as easily fly around and make bad things happen if I was hit. It’s a sad reminder you should always secure gadgets and stuff in your car, whether it’s a laptop or a heavy book.

A five-year-old boy allegedly stabbed her ten-year-old sister over a Nintendo DS. The prosecutor says that little Chucky here thought the knife was part of a Power Rangers game. Update: It may have been the mother!

It happened in Uckange, France. Apparently, the prosecutor thinks the Power Rangers may be the key to his behaviour because in that game there is a part in which you have throw knives, which completely explains why a kid would try to kill her sister to get a Nintendo DS. Suuuure. Let’s blame games.

Fortunately, there’s also another explanation: The mother—who was sleeping in the house while all this happened—was a victim of domestic violence. Whatever it was, the good news is that the life of the stabbed kid is not at risk.

Update: The forensic office now says it’s impossible the 5-year-old did this, so the police suspect the mother did it and blamed the kid, the DS, and the games. How nice of her.
Update: A reader tipped us off that the Q400 had been previously banned in Scandinavia, after two crashes involving the plane – one in Lithuania and one in Denmark.

Richardson received a life sentence for stabbing his estranged wife to death last May. She was living at her parent’s home at the time following a falling out. When she later changed her status to “single,” Richardson broke in and killed her. Later, he tried and failed to kill himself.

This is the third U.K.-based Facebook murder story to happen in the past year.

As ComputerWeekly reports, last year in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, “a man murdered his wife and then killed himself after she told visitors to her Facebook page that she was splitting up with him.” In October, a Croydon, Surrey, man murdered his wife when she also changed her status to single. Somehow I don’t think it’s Facebook that’s to blame in these cases, as they’d probably play out the same way, sadly, regardless of the method used to break off the marriage.
The news stunned a student population still reeling from the mass shootings that happened in 2007.

Xin Yang, a Beijing native, had met her accused attacker, 25-year-old Haiyang Zhu, through the 500-strong Chinese community at VTech. The two attended several functions together, and he was listed on her emergency contacts. But on Wednesday, seemingly apropos of nothing, he pulled out a kitchen knife in a cafe at the Graduate Life Center.

Witnesses said the two had not been arguing before the attack, and that there hadn’t been previous signs of trouble between them.

Zhu has been charged with first-degree murder. After the arrest, the campus alert system put in place after Seung-Hui Cho’s shootings sent out a notice to about 30,000 subscribers.
According to the Waukesha Police, the fight started over an argument about who’s turn it was to play the (unidentified) game. Eventually, the fight escalated when one brother tried to choke the other out. In retaliation, he pulled an knife and slashed at his assailant. The knife was wrestled out of his hands and plunged into his chest. In a panic, the brother who did the stabbin’ fled the scene and walked to the hospital—suffering severe frostbite on his hands as a result.

The injuries sustained were not life threatening, but police are recommending that charges be brought up against both brothers. They are also speaking with Santa Claus about the possibility of placing his boot squarely and firmly into their asses.
Brittney Love Venton of St. Paul is now charged with second-degree assault and is being held on $US50,000 bail. Her boyfriend, Nicholas Smith is in stable condition and is in a local hospital recovering from the stabwound.

Witnesses told police the stabbing stemmed from an argument over a TV remote.

“One person wanted to see one thing, one person wanted to see the other, so she stabbed him in the stomach,” said Juanita Luke, who lives in the apartment downstairs from the rental unit where Smith lives. “It was like a movie or a music video. It was between that.”

She said she heard a commotion and went up to Smith’s apartment, and saw the aftermath of the attack.

Right, so the next time you even think about not letting us finish that new Britney Spears premiere video, remember this: We. Will. Cut. You. [Twin Cities]
