Windows 7 RTM Leaked On BitTorrent

10:20AM Don Nguyen | It should come as no surprise—but Windows 7 Build 7600.16385, which Microsoft deemed the RTM, has been unceremoniously leaked. A Chinese 64-bit version was first posted on torrent sites on July 16th with an English version released later that day. As always, grab at your own risk. [The New York Times]

Nine’s Underbelly Hits the Internet’s Underbelly

1:17PM Nick Broughall | In case you missed it, Channel 9’s new crime drama, Underbelly, was banned from being broadcast in Victoria by the Victorian Supreme Court on Monday as it may influence the result of a murder trial currently underway. The show is a “based on the true story” type show about the 10 year gang war in Melbourne. But what makes this story really interesting is that within 30 minutes of it being aired last night throughout the rest of Australia, the show was popping up on torrent sites for people to download. Including people from Victoria. According to the SMH, “this morning more than 600 people were already downloading the show from one site”. More »

A UCLA project with big partners like BMW and Toyota, cars communicate through 5.9GHz wireless LAN over ranges of 100-300 meters. During its first implementation—currently project for 2012—the system will communicate navigation info (road/traffic conditions), various media (ads and attractions) and surveillance (data from car cameras, etc for police to comb through later).
