TomTom’s claiming the GO LIVE 1000 marks “the first in a whole new generation of navigation devices”, which just makes me think it’d be worth holding out to see what the second model does. Nonetheless, the capacitive touchscreen is big news.
TomTom has enhanced its GPS app for the iPhone to offer a few new tricks that should help make it earn its keep at such a heady App Store price point. The new version 1.3 TomTom app throws in a bunch of updates to make the app experience more iPhone smart, like new pinch and zoom map adjustments, and along with a new Local Search feature powered by Google you should be feeling a lot more value for your $99.99.
It seems that this week is the week I end up with too much to actually play with. On top of a couple of things from last week (I’m still playing with the Ricoh GXR and the Sony Bloggie), I’ve added a couple of TomTom satnavs (the Start and the Go 750), a Soniq iPod dock (iM600k) and a Windows 7 tablet from Handii.
