Neat And Tidy iPod Touch Theme Makes My iPhone Jealous

All of my iPhones are virgins. They’ve never been jailbroken nor have they been exposed to pictures of Jason shoving gadgets down his pants. But as soon as this theme is available for the 3GS, it’s cherry-popping time!

The whitoken theme hasn’t been released yet, but its creator promises that it’ll be available for the iPod touch sometime tomorrow. No word on iPhone availability. [MacThemes]

HTC Hero’s Sense UI Comes to iPhone as a Jailbroken Theme

Have a jailbroken iPhone but long for the exciting new Sense UI seen on the HTC Hero? A new theme brings Sense to the iPhone, though the skin is, unfortunately, only skin-deep.

The home screen looks pretty good, with HTC’s trademark flipping clock (although the skinned clock doesn’t actually flip), weather, and three customisable apps, with the icon for the sliding app tray just to the right. The dialer is also skinned, with the fat-finger-friendly Android number keys, but that’s mostly it — the apps themselves aren’t skinned, and neither is the list of apps. But it’ll definitely give a fresh coat of paint to the iPhone if you’re tired of the home screen, as long as you don’t expect the iPhone UI to be as totally changed by Sense as Android’s was. Reader Andrew Aitken saw the article on the iPhone prototype’s user interface and sent us this: A video detailing a complete—and absolutely cool—Star Trek: The Next Generation makeover for Apple’s mobile phone.

I saw your call for a total ST:TNG makeover of the iPhone, and wanted to show you (and the world) mine! It is not completely designed by me, others started the work and I just continued it, or combined several existing models.

I then ported it to winterboard and added my own mods here and there, like the LCARS calculator and SBSettings, as well as sounds and an animated background to make the whole thing look cooler! I even ported the Enterprise’s computer font—Swiss911, used for the Library Computer Access/Retrieval System’s interface—to the iPhone.

It’s not finished yet, my imagination and photoshop skills have really been put to the test, if this gets out to a wider audience, maybe some ideas would come in… here it is, so far.

Sony PS3 Update Will Sell You Premium Themes

Sony has dropped a brand-new feature on its PS3 console that will let you buy Premium themes–specialised themes that contain high-quality graphics, customised buttons, and (sometimes) special sounds. Since they cost real money, PS3 users will have an option to preview the images before deciding to drop the cash. The company plans on releasing 6 to 10 premium themes every month, which will run the gamut from anime-styled to NCAA-franchised content. It’s pretty, but is it worth your penny? Blackberry Flowberry Theme is for Closet Mac Admirers Who Can’t Pull the Trigger

The brand spankin’ new Flowberry theme is full of icons for the Blackberry owner who really wants to own an Apple product, like the iPhone or MacBook Pro, but can’t quite commit. As you’ll see from the video, there’s a pseudo Cover Flow quality to the latest effort from bplay, but that’s about it. And, just like the iTunes Store and other Apple products, the theme’s home screen icons are locked in, giving you that DRM feeling without actually having to deal with DRM.

Bplay says Flowberry is compatible with all device software, but works best with version 4.3 or higher. The unchangeable home screen icons are: Messages, Calendar, Address Book, Media, SMS/MMS, BlackBerry Messenger, MemoPad, and Keyboard Lock [Bplay via Crackberry]

iGoogle Gets Some Aussie Artist Themes, Interesting

Fans of Australian artists like John Butler Trio, Missy Higgins, Rolf Harris, Anne Geddes, Ken Done or The Wiggles are about to get a big treat – themes for iGoogle!

The themes were designed by the artists as a ~~massive marketing ploy~~ way of offering fans another way of expressing their support, and part of Google’s global effort to let people personalise their online experience.

John Butler, that hippy rockstar with a social conscience, loves the idea:

“The term Google has become part of the English vernacular as a way to say go find out yourself…get informed. As someone who is part of a progressive generation who sees this small world as one interconnected community, I’m proud to represent the Australian arts scene on a global level.”
