From the way people are already drooling over tonight’s tweetable, hyper-connected Super Bowl ads, you would be forgiven for thinking that the famed Lombardi Trophy will be awarded to an ad agency, instead of the usual football-playing recipient.
Popdust has unearthed video of the 1989 Super Bowl halftime show, which was, in Bob Costas’s words, “the first ever network broadcast in 3D.” It was also a total shtick-show featuring “Elvis Presto”, dancing ladies, and “the world’s largest card trick”.

This year was a pretty incredible Super Bowl (especially after last year when one Giz staffer’s hometown Bears lost). And while the most exciting 30 seconds this year were definitely late in the fourth quarter, the commercials, as always, held their own competition to captivate the audience.
