For them, what comes across is a smell of fried steak, hot metal and even welding a motorbike.

There you have it, fried steak and hot metal. Much like my apartment. Omega Ingredients–probably an Spectra subsidiary–is working on this space fragrance based on the testimonies of the astronauts who have been in space. You know, all those guys and girls who went into the Moonraker program. The resulting meat-and-metal eau de cologne could–according to them–be used by Nasa to increase the realism of their simulations. One of the experiments they’re going to test is whether explosives can tenderise a steak as well as a traditional tenderisers. Can it? We’re not sure—you’ll have to watch Discovery at 9PM tomorrow to find out. [Mythbusters]

Who wants to light the grill just so you can have one measly steak? Why make a whole production out of it? What you need, my friend, is a steak toaster.

OK, so it’s not called the steak toaster, it’s called the Ariete SteakHouse Indoor Grill, but that’s pretty much what it is. It holds your hunk of meat vertically, keeping the heating elements on the side so all the fatty, greasy juices drip down to a tray and don’t smoke. Sure, for US$220 you could just fire up the grill, go to a steak house or get a cheap George Foreman grill to get similar results, but then you wouldn’t be able to brag to your friends that you have a steak toaster.
