Maxell’s SSB-1 soundbar is by all definitions, a budget product. Combining two 7.5W speakers with a 15W subwoofer, the SSB-1 likely won’t send you into a state of awe. But at the same time, it’s only $US130.

Orbitsound’s T14 Soundbar And Dock Hits US Late This Year

Previously unattainable by those outside its home country, British audio company Orbitsound has a followup product to last year’s T12 soundbar, the T14. Created by eccentric British musician Ted Fletcher (who has worked with Elton John and The Who), it’ll cost $US600.

Can anyone explain to me how 4.1 surround sound works from a soundbar? I can understand virtual 5.1 and Sharp’s 3.1 well enough, but what about 4.1? Is that three front speakers and one rear? Stereo front and stereo back? Three back and one front? I’m confused!
