Zeemote JS1 Nunchuk Gaming Controller Bundles With Sony Ericsson W760

Posted by John Mahoney at 12:30 AM on August 5, 2008

The Zeemote analogue joystick controller for Bluetooth phones is now starting to see the light of day, at least for lucky Dutch W760 buyers, who will get it free as a promo package. This isn't the Wii-like motion-control version the company has been promising, and still no word on U.S. pricing or availability, but it looks like your first person mobile phone shooters will soon get a bit easier to play. Full release follows.

James Bond's Sony Ericsson C902 Cybershot to go Public

Posted by Kit Eaton at 8:10 PM on August 4, 2008

Sometimes the strangest part of writing for Giz is decoding press releases: like this morning's Sony Ericsson one. Did they leave out an image of the upcoming special limited-edition C902 Cybershot James Bond phone to add to the mystery? Is it supposed to be kinda secret, à la Bond himself? Who knows: luckily T3 snagged a picture of the "titanium silver" phone. 007 himself uses it in the movie Quantum of Solace, and you can get your hands on one too. Hardware-wise the phone is unchanged from the 5-megapixel camera original, but will come with 007-themed content, including a "spy-style" game. Quite how this makes sure you're "ready for any challenge" I'm not sure. It's a mystery. As is price and release date. Blimey, Sony Ericsson's really good at this cloak-and-dagger stuff isn't it? Sony Pushes Out Three New Walkman Phones, the W302, W902 and W595

Posted by Kit Eaton at 7:09 PM on July 22, 2008

It's the third birthday of Sony Ericsson's Walkman phone label, and to celebrate it's launching three new music-based mobile phones. The W302 and W902 (left, centre in the image) are both candybar handsets, with the 302 having an FM radio, and 2-megapixel cam, and the 902 with a 5-megapixel cam and apparently matching the high audio quality of the W980 phone. The W595 is a slide phone with built-in stereo speakers so users can "share sounds with their friends" (read: annoy passers-by with irritating tunes) but it also has twin jacks so you can share music privately. All four phones are quad-band GSM, have "shake control," come in a selection of colours and will hit the streets at the end of the year. Press release below, which also details some new accessories like wireless portable speakers.

AT&T-Branded Sony-Ericsson W350a Mysteriously Appears On eBay

Posted by Matt Hickey at 2:30 PM on July 17, 2008

It looks like the Sony-Ericsson W350a is coming to AT&T later this year. One of the handsets has appeared mysteriously on eBay with AT&T branding. It's not a super-new phone, but the fact that it's got the AT&T logo is something interesting. Was this a demo phone? A loaner from SE? Will AT&T carry the phone in the near future? We don't know, but Sony-Ericsson fans have just perked up their ears. [PhoneNews]

Sony Ericsson C702 Toilet Test Is Gross, Yet Intriguing

Posted by Jason Chen at 8:00 AM on July 3, 2008

Nowhere in the specs of the Sony Ericsson C720 does it say that it's completely waterproof—just dust and splash proof. And if there's one thing that a toilet does well (at least when we use it), it's splash. This could be one of the more disgusting tests imaginable for a phone. Seriously, are you going to use it now, because the CDC thinks otherwise.

AU: I wonder if flushing it would help me open the back cover?

Meet The Sony Ericsson C702 - My Nemesis For Today

Australian Post Posted by Nick Broughall at 4:34 PM on June 30, 2008

C702.JPG

Last week I had a catchup with the guys from Sony Ericsson to see where they were at. They spoke a bit about their upcoming handsets, trends in the marketplace, opinions on the iPhone (they think its good for the market in general), and then gave me a C702 and a C902 to take home and play with.

The C902 is fantastic, although it doesn't sync with my iMac. The C702, on the other hand, is proving to be the Joker to my Batman; the EU to my Microsoft; the Creative Zen to my iPod... that's right - it has become my nemesis.

Sony Ericsson Wins Greenest Electronics Company Award

Posted by Gizmodo US Edition at 12:00 PM on June 30, 2008

Congratulations, Sony Ericsson, for winning what was ultimately a barely challenging competition to become the greenest electronics company around. Our favourite Swedish-Japanese conglomerate rose to the top of Greenpeace's Greener Electronics Guide by exceeding Energy Star requirements, making all its models PVC-free and banning the most harmful chemicals from phones launched since January 2008. Unfortunately, it was valedictorian in a class whose scores have plummeted all around.

Sony Ericsson Cancels Paris and BeiBei Smartphones

Posted by Gizmodo US Edition at 10:45 PM on June 27, 2008

Sony Ericsson's Paris, much coveted by S-E purists, has been canned, according to the Unofficial Sony Ericsson Blog. The Paris, aka the P5i, has been filed under T (for trash) alongside its sister smartphone, the BeiBei, or the G702. Apparently it's to do with the less-than-enthusiastic reactions from some of the mobile phone bloggers, who weren't exactly gagging for it. There's also speculation that a lot of its features were already lagging behind those of its competitors--and this is before it had even hit the streets. I guess we'll never have Paris.
