Roxio CinemaNow Brings Streaming Movies To The Wii (in Japan)
8:30PM Dan Nosowitz | Well, it’s Japan-only for now, but the Wii is finally starting to compete with the PS3 and Xbox 360 in the only category in which it’s in third place: Media centre functionality. CinemaNow, apparently, is the guinea pig of choice. More »

Old Feuds Reunite Between Nintendo and Sega
5:20AM Mark Wilson | In an intense moment of jealousy over Sonic’s intense speed and superb hair stability, Mario lets fists fly. Or something like that. [E3@Giz] More »

Sonic Nausea Makes Your Prank Victims Sick, Literally
7:40AM Adam Frucci | Nothing says hilarity like making somebody else physically ill. That’s the idea behind Sonic Nausea, a tiny device that makes people sick to their stomach when they’re within it’s range. More »

Dr. Who Sonic and Laser Screwdrivers Are Really Vibrators In Disguise
10:30PM Jesus Diaz | I mean, come on. Look at these two. Dr. Who Sonic vs Laser Screwdrivers? Dr. Who? When was the last time you travelled back in time? Hello? How hard is to actually go to an online sex-shop and anonymously order the real thing? They come in the same brown cardboard UPS package, do we really have to pretend this is a collector’s item? Look at them again, up close, read the specs, and then you tell me: More »

Olympic Gold Medalist Would Like to Thank the Wii
11:15PM Mark Wilson | That Nintendo Wii, what will it think up next? It’s made us smarter and fitter and stronger and just so much better. Oh, and have you heard? Now it’s creating OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALISTS. Japanese swimmer Kosuke Kitajima just took the gold in the 100-meter breaststroke, and instead of thanking God or his trainers in typical fashion, he gave another performance enhancer a shout-out: More »

Sonic Crystals to Make Homes, Cars Completely Soundproof
9:25PM Gizmodo US Edition | A new technology presented in the New Journal of Physics may lead to completely soundproof homes, cars, or any other space using a meta-material called sonic crystals. One of the developers, who is not Reed Richards but Dr José Sánchez-Dehesa of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain, says that this “acoustic cloaking will deviate sound waves around the object that has to be cloaked.” More »

The Master’s Laser Screwdriver Turns Doctor Who into Doctor Pew Pew Pew
8:45PM Addy Dugdale | Doctor Who fans can now get their hands on the Master’s laser screwdriver. Darth Vader to the Time Lord’s Luke (father-son relationship aside), the Master’s laser screwdriver is more powerful than Doctor Who’s—well, that’s what you’d think, wouldn’t you? Although you can get a simultaneous blast from all three laser barrels, not to mention the Pew Pew Pew, it’s not multi-talented like the Doctor’s version. Can you write a list for the weekly shop with this version? No you can’t. Those eight-and-a-half inches of pleasure (when extended) will set you back US$18.99. [ThinkGeek] More »

Mega Sonic Scatter-Cat Blasts Dogs and Cats Off Your Lawn, But Not Those Damn Teenagers
7:00AM Matt Buchanan | Squirrels. They’re rats with fluffier tails, and the little bastards used to steal the peaches off of my grandma’s trees while our brilliant but useless dog watched. Sonic repellents are nothing new (for animals or people), but the Mega Sonic Scatter-Cat adds a mega-dose of cheap toy cheesiness, making noise assaults on furry pests mildly more entertaining. Plus, laser sight! And it’s only like US$20. I’d pay an extra 10 bucks for a youngster setting. [Maplin via Crave] More »
