First Entirely Green Screen Show Coming to TV

Posted by Mark Wilson at 1:27 AM on April 4, 2008

Sci Fi has announced that they'll be producing Sanctuary, television's first entirely green screen show. Its plot explores the possible existence of shadow-hidden mutants living among us (which doesn't sound like the worst fodder for CGI overload, though a weather drama might have required a lower budget). With the ever-dropping price and simultaneous growing capabilities of computer graphics and compositing software/hardware, it's almost surprising that someone (outside of Hollywood) didn't beat Sci Fi to the punch. But one thing's for sure: this trend is far from over. And there's a strong possibility of rain, too. [tvfodder]

Microsoft Gets Worst Movies Ever Producer to Create Exclusive Xbox Live Shows

Posted by Haroon Malik at 11:25 AM on March 31, 2008

Microsoft has just inked a deal with Peter Safran, the producer of amazing cinema masterpieces like Jiminy Glick in Lalawood, Meet the Spartans, and the all-time-classic RocketMan, to produce "original" shows for distribution via Xbox 360's Live service. Like his movies, the 10-minute-max shows will "initially" be scripted (or something like that,) and they will focus on the "horror" and "comedy" genres, "appealing to the Xbox 360 demographic." Apparently, Microsoft and Safran think that Xbox Live video users are retards with short attention span problems. [NYT]

The Cal Marching Band's Amazing 16-bit Video Game Halftime Show

Posted by Adam Frucci at 6:40 AM on November 15, 2007

This is the Cal band playing a halftime show from earlier this month. It's their "video game show," and it's pretty much the coolest thing ever. They run through a number of classic game songs, all while forming scenes from the games out of the band itself. It's got everything from Pong and Tetris to Zelda and Mario, and it's amazing. It makes me want to play Nintendo and join a drumline all at the same time. Well, maybe just play Nintendo, but you get the idea. [Milk and Cookies]
