Drum Kit Shirt Turns You Into a Robotic Bobby McFerrin

Posted by Sean Fallon at 2:30 AM on September 25, 2008

Remember the '80s? You know, the decade that playing a beat on your chest passed as music? Just me? Wow...I am getting old. Anyway, you can relive those days with a high-tech upgrade thanks to this electronic drum kit shirt from Think Geek. That's right, you can actually play seven different drum sounds through a built-in speaker by tapping on different areas of the shirt. As you can see in the video, the effect is awesome—but the whole thing has reminded me of Bobby McFerrin, which has reminded me of that God-awful Don't Worry Be Happy song, which is now deeply entrenched in my head. Damn you, Bobby McFerrin...damn you to hell. [Think Geek]

The Reality of Our Worst Airport Security Nightmare

Posted by Mark Wilson at 3:00 AM on September 20, 2008

A year ago, MIT student Star Simpson arrived at an airport wearing an LED sweatshirt. And while this sweatshirt was not much different than LED apparel we've featured on Gizmodo before, Simpson was tackled by security before going through months of media attacks and court processes to clear her name. In an absolutely superb interview, Simpson takes BoingBoing (and now you) through the entire story. Watch it over your lunch if you need to, but definitely give it a few minutes of your time. And from now on, only wear your finest name-brand Wal-Mart attire when travelling. [boingboing]

Hey girls, can't decide whether or not to wear that midriff-bearing shirt out to the bar tonight? Sure it's ridiculous, but it's also one-of-its-kind, and available only at art museums for the time being. Just don't be too peeved when some drunk mistakes your shirt for an actual window and pukes all over your chest. [Shikisai via I New Idea]

His and Hers Binary Button-Downs Fuse Subtle Geek With Work Wardrobe Chic

Posted by Gizmodo US Edition at 10:00 AM on June 29, 2008

These dry-clean only shirts from Rhombuswear are, perhaps, the perfect "next step" for geeks looking to spruce up their wardrobe with a few articles that aren't open source project-branded polo shirts. From a distance, they're all business. But get close, and the little 1's and 0's start to take shape. Or Iowa test ovals, your choice. Just don't come complaining to us when you get reprimanded for making nasty words with the filled-in ovals. Then again, for US$75 a pop, you might want to leave the No. 2's at home. Web 2.0h Yeaahh!!

Posted by Mark Wilson at 12:45 AM on June 25, 2008

Some will realise that this t-shirt is really just a clever response to a Steve Rubel piece from last year. But recognising the allusion is hardly a prerequisite to enjoying Mr. Kool-Aid himself kicking the internet in the groin. Besides, it's the only thing we've got to tide us over until the Web 3.Oh Yeaahh!! shirt comes out. [Feed Store via technabob]

Optimus Prime T-Shirt Transforms into Arrest Threat at Airport

Posted by Gizmodo US Edition at 12:40 AM on June 3, 2008

We love Transformers here at Giz, but it looks like the UK's already slightly-crazed authorities don't. A guy called Brad Jayakody was recently barred from boarding a flight at Heathrow Airport's new Terminal 5 because his T-shirt had a picture of Optimus Prime brandishing a gun.

Huggable Electric Hoodies for Couples: A Visual Ipecac

Posted by Sean Fallon at 6:00 AM on May 22, 2008

Nothing gets the bile rising in the throat faster than a couple wearing the same clothes—that is until you have witnessed a couple wearing these Embrace Me hoodies. The abstract logo on the front of the garment is actually made of a conductive fabric. When two people wearing the shirts embrace, small white lights flicker on the back of each hoodie, forming a Big Dipper pattern. If that wasn't bad enough, the light show is accompanied by a faint heartbeat sound.

Apple Store Retail Employees Getting New Shirts, Slogans, Impatient Attitude

Posted by Jason Chen at 10:40 AM on April 29, 2008

IFO AppleStore has info the new clothing design for Apple Retail employees, who will swap out their current job titles for slightly different ones that represent Apple's iPod and iPhone business more. The "Mac Genius" will be come just "Genius", for example, and there will be six different slogans for each guy. We know it's old hat to mock Apple users and Apple Retail for being slightly smarmy and, well, kind of douchey, but these shirt slogans after the jump kind of reinforce the reason why.
